The Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer joins the large capacity BeadBlaster 24 and personal sized BeadBug as the newest member of the Benchmark homogenizer line.Like the other members of the Benchmark Microtube Homogenizer family, the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer uses a three-dimensional shaking motion to disrupt and homogenize samples within 2 mL and 5 mL tubes.
This motion of the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer, when combined with beads of the appropriate size and material for the particular tube and sample, causes high-velocity impacts with the sample which is an extremely fast and efficient method for releasing cellular contents, including nucleic acids and proteins, leading to biological sample homogenization with the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer.
Many different sample types and sources, from cells in culture to samples from organ tissues and bone can be homogenized in the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer. Most biological samples can be homogenized with the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer within 45 seconds. Programming the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer is relatively quick and easy - just set the speed, time, number of cycles and pause between cycles, and then press start. For convenience, the last programmed settings remain in the memory for repeated runs of the same protocols.
Sealed tubes prevent cross-contamination of different samples in the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer. Samples are simply loaded into the tubes along with the beads and placed in the unit for homogenization. After processing, tubes are briefly spun in a centrifuge to bring the beads down to the bottom of the tube, and the lysate removed with a pipette.
Designed to meet the needs of medium throughput laboratories, the Benchmark BeadBug 6 Microtube Homogenizer can simultaneously process up to six samples in 2.0 mL tubes. With optional adapters, the unit will also accept two 5.0 mL tubes.
